Corporate MIDAS Mini Bus Driver Training

Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme

MiDAS is a membership scheme, free to join, with members undertaking a commitment to assess and train all their minibus drivers to the MiDAS standard. Alconbury Driving Centre trainers are accredited by the CTA to train and develop your drivers to the MiDAS standard.

What are the benefits of Midas training?

Besides the obvious legal requirements there are other benefits, not only to your organisation but also to your drivers and passengers. Trained drivers will drive your vehicles in a more sympathetic manner, helping to reduce stress, wear & tear, maintenance and fuel costs. They will have fewer incidents, resulting in lower insurance premiums and less “down-time” of vehicles. The skills they learn during their training can be transferred to their own private vehicles, thus benefiting the driver’s family. Trained drivers will drive your vehicles in a more eco-friendly way with the same potential of reduction in running costs. Perhaps the most significant benefit of all is to your passengers, staff, and customers will be transported in a safe and more comfortable manner.

MiDAS is applicable to any organisation that transports passengers by road, and member organisations can be a small voluntary organisation operating one vehicle to local authorities operating a large fleet of vehicles. Many schools and other educational establishments are members and in its guidance to schools using minibuses, the Department for Education cites MiDAS training as good practice for all schools.

Alconbury Driving Centre DSA fleet trainers are Midas approved and qualified to train and develop your drivers.

Under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, organisations have a responsibility – Duty of Care – to provide information, instruction, training and supervision to all their staff, and a responsibility to protect the health, safety and welfare of everyone affected by the organisation. This is further endorsed under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, which also place a duty on organisations to provide appropriate training and education for staff.

Developed by Hampshire County Council, MiDAS is administered nationally by the CTAUK and provides organisations with the means to assess and train all their minibus drivers.
